Brooks Fit Club begins in late September with physical education teacher, Derek Blyzwick. Blyzwick. The club promotes active movers through a variety of physical activities and skills.
Students who arrive earlier than 8:30 a.m. usually wait indoors for school to start. Blyzwick decided to use the spare 20 minutes in the morning to give students the opportunity to be active. "I thought it would be more productive to give them the option to exercise and get outside rather than sitting in the cafeteria," Blyzwick said.
"Variety is the spice of life when it comes to fitness and this was the mindset going into the development of this club," Blyzwick said.
Club members will meet Mr. Blyzwick in the gym and go through 18 one-minute fitness stations. Stations include push-ups, yoga, gymnastics, climbing wall, ladder agility, and high-knee running.
"My goal for the club is to develop lifelong movers," Blyzwick said.
