As part of our redistricting plan for the 2025-2026 school year, we want to ensure that elementary students who will be transitioning to a new school have an opportunity to visit their future school before the start of the new school year. We will have multiple opportunities for this to occur. Our first series of scheduled student visits will be on March 27 and March 28 for those impacted by the redistricting plan.

The Moon Township Rotary made a special visit to Moon Area elementary schools on February 13-14, meeting with every third-grade class to talk about the power of learning and literacy. As part of their commitment to education, they gifted each third grader their very own dictionary—an incredible resource to support their growth and curiosity.
With the potential for an ice storm tonight, we want to ensure that all families are prepared in case we need to transition to remote learning tomorrow.

An education and support virtual series that provides students, parents, families, staff, etc. the opportunity to learn and gain information from presenters from local organizations, agencies and businesses is available to MASD families and staff members.

We are writing to inform you about our Moon Area Elementary Redistricting Plan beginning at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. We want to ensure our families understand how this year's weather-related school closures will impact our school calendar.
As we previously shared, Thursday, April 17th, originally designated as part of spring break, will now be a regular school day. This change is necessary to make up for the snow day we had on Monday, January 6th.
The district designated Wednesday, January 22, 2025 as an Act 80 Day. This means students will not have to make up the day.

The Moon Angel Tree Program was able to support 191 of our students from all our buildings in all grade levels this year!
The wish lists were wide and varied, but the shoppers managed to procure everything from necessities like shoes, coats, clothes, socks, and toiletries; to wants of dolls, bikes, scooters, roller skates, sports jerseys, Lego sets, headphones, keyboards, easy bake ovens and even a guitar.
Santa came to visit the good boys and girls in Ms. Fatica and Ms. Fisher's classrooms at Brooks Elementary School!
The students practiced their social skills while greeting Santa, answering questions, following directions, singing along with their peers and of course, thanking Santa for his gifts!
On December 13, 2024, Danil Dzhalchinov, a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer from Amazon Web Services and a proud parent of two students at JH Brooks Elementary, hosted three Hours of Code sessions for students in grades 2, 3 and 4.
J.H. Brooks Elementary Top Brooks Bucks earners recently celebrated their positive behavior choices with "McD's with McG!"
Meal coupons were raffled off, and an additional 25 students enjoyed McDonald's Happy Meals with Dr. McGahee as a special lunch treat! McD's with McG was made possible by the generous, on-going support of our local Moon Township McDonald's.
It is with great pleasure that I present to you our 2024 annual report. As we reflect on another successful year, I am proud of the significant strides we have made in strengthening the academic programs that are at the core of our school district's mission.
We are excited to announce that the Moon Angel Tree Program is returning this holiday season! Last year, we were overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of our Moon Area families, whose contributions helped fulfill the wishes, needs, and dreams of 129 Moon Area students, bringing joy to many families during the holiday season.
Mrs. DeCecco third grade students at Brooks Elementary School read "'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving" by Dav Pikley. After reading the book, the students created their own PowerPoint presentation with the goal of persuading someone to eat anything else besides turkey for Thanksgiving.
At Brooks Elementary School, Miss Fatica's students celebrated "Friendsgiving." They prepared green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, chicken, and stuffing! It was a delicious and fun way to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends!
It may still be relatively warm outside, but the possibility of winter weather is right around the corner. As we prepare for the possibility of weather-related delays and closings, we want to make sure families are as prepared as possible.
On November 11, 2024, J.H. Brooks Elementary School proudly celebrated Veterans Day with a heartfelt tribute to honor those who have served our country.
The Moon Area Fire Department recently held an exciting fire safety assembly at Brooks Elementary School, where students engaged in important discussions on fire safety tips and learned how to stay safe during emergencies. The highlight of the day was the "Touch a Truck" experience, giving students a hands-on look at fire engines and equipment.

At 4:02 p.m., Moon Area School District officials and Moon Township Police both received a Safe2Say notification informing us of a safety incident on a Moon Area Middle School afternoon bus.
In honor of September 11th, Mrs. DeCerro's third grade class at Brooks Elementary School made thank you cards for our Moon Township police officers and firefighters to thank them for all they do for the community.

We understand that many of you have additional questions or concerns following the message we shared yesterday regarding the student who was found in possession of a weapon. While we are unable to provide every detail due to the ongoing investigation involving a minor, we want to keep you informed with the information we are able to share at this time.
Earlier today, a weapon was found in the possession of a high school student. We want to assure you that the safety of all students and staff was never compromised, and there was no immediate threat to anyone on campus. The police were immediately notified, and the situation was handled swiftly. At no point was there any intent to harm students or staff.
Kindergarten students in Ms. Lamb’s class at J.H. Brooks Elementary School learned about Patriot’s Day on September 11, 2024.
We understand that with recent tragic events, such as the school shooting in Atlanta and other incidents across the country, concerns about school safety are elevated. The safety of our students and staff is a top priority, and we want to reassure you that the Moon Area School District is deeply committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment.
In partnership with the Moon Area School District, the Moon Township Police Department invites the adult public of school-aged children to a Safety Night on September 26 at 6 pm at the Moon Area High School Auditorium.
Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) joined Moon Area School District officials and clean air advocates to celebrate the $10.57 million federal investment to provide thirty-eight fully electric buses to school districts around Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. Specifically, the leaders spotlighted the $1.2 million for Moon Area School District’s purchase of six new vehicles.

Moon Area School District held Town Hall meetings at Hyde Elementary on March 4, 2024 and Brooks Elementary on March 6, 2024 to engage in an open discussion regarding our elementary school structure and the support systems we provide for our students. I would like to thank everybody who attended the meeting.
